Band:The Underlying Factor!!!
Hometown: League City, TX
Below are the sexy members of the band:
Spencer Fort - Singer/Keyboard/Songwriter
Parker Sims - Guitarist
Ben Pogue - Bass
Ryan Alder - Drummer
Here are their responses to my tough questions:
1. Where did you guys get the idea for the name of your band?
No one really knows where the name came from, so we just tell everyone a fairy came to us in a dream and said “Your band will be named The Underlying Factor” (haha)
2. What messages/ideas are you guys trying to express through your music?
We don’t really have any specific message we are trying to express because every song has a different meaning, but we like to make it clear that just because someone is a rocker does not mean they are bad. We don’t use vulgarity on stage because of that and so we like to think that is a message in itself.
3. Where did you guys get your inspiration for your music?
Our musical inspiration is pretty ridiculous. Vocalist: Spencer Fort gets a lot of his inspiration from alternative and rock bands like Mayday Parade or Go Radio, whereas Parker Sims: the guitarist, gets most of his inspiration from playing in death metal music. Ryan has always played punk in his drumming and was inspired by bands like Blink-182 and Chunk! No, Captain Chunk, and bassist Ben Pogue is the odd-ball of the group. Everything he touches turns into jazz, but he also gets lots of inspiration from Christian groups like Switchfoot and Skillet.
4. What dream band/musician would you guys like to tour with and why?
We all like too many different bands to have one that everyone agrees on, but we love playing any show we get and hope we can keep playing more and start touring soon.
5. What new music material are you guys working on that you would like to share with your fans?
Our first EP, “A Paradox at its Finest” is being released by November 17th, 2012 and we are hoping that all of you get it and spread it around. Having an EP is going to be a huge step for us and so we are hoping things only get bigger from there.
6. If you could describe your music in one word what would it be and why?
Eclectic, because of the fact that we pull from so many different styles and we also appeal to a lot of different people in multiple ways.
7. What would you guys want from your fans if you could ask them for anything?
We want them to multiply! The more people they can get involved in The Underlying Factor the better and we want everyone to go out and get the EP as soon as it comes out.
We have put a lot of work into it and really appreciate Great Depths Studios for helping us with the whole thing. We are extremely excited to release it for everyone.
