The return of Indigo Swing frontman from SF: JOHNNY BOYD and his band
Indigo Swing in the early 90’s hit the dance-band circuit, bringing boogie-woogie and jump-blues music back from the recesses of memory to a nation crazed with jitterbugging and two-toned shoes. This is when and how he learned the textured arrangements and evocative compositions that were pure jittersauce.
Long-acclaimed as one of the most versatile vocal performers of today, Singer-songwriter Johnny Boyd seamlessly blends swing, jazz, pop, country, gospel and rock, bringing back the nostalgic charisma of a bygone era, while taking risks with his arrangements that truly show confidence in his talent. 2012 marks the much-anticipated release of Boyd’s full-length album entitled Never Been Blue.
Plus, San Francisco's STOMPY JONES
Little David Rose's (original Indigo Swing bass player) thumpin' stand-up bass, the double-shuffle drumming of Lee Beary, and the bounce piano of John Cocuzzi provide the rhythmic foundation of the band's jump style. Riffing on top is the trumpet sound of Robert Dehlinger and Erv Ervin on the saxophone. These two fellas create the fireworks of vintage rhythm and blues. The charming Hank Maninger on vocals and lead guitar have become a trademark of Stompy Jones.
