About this show

Formed in 2011 as a collective of the Bay Area’s finest young acoustic talent, Adam Roszkiewicz, Jacob Groopman, Jordan Klein, Leif Karlstrom, Melody Walker and Zach Sharpe joined forces to play a monthly gig with friends in San Francisco’s Mission District. They quickly found a musical rapport that was open to challenging arrangements, unique covers and original songwriting. Their repertoire rapidly expanded and in January of 2012 Front Country decided to take on a Bay Area bluegrass tradition and compete in the prestigious RockyGrass band competition. On July 29, 2012 they became the second Northern California band in three years to win the title and among a long list of those to place in the recent past, including 49 Special, Windy Hill, and Belle Monroe & the Brewglass Boys, to name a few. They also join the ranks of past champs turned touring acts, the Steep Canyon Rangers, Spring Creek, the Hillbenders, and Henhouse Prowlers.

Making their home in Northern California, Savannah Blu is a powerful contemporary bluegrass band with soulful vocals and driving rhythms. Savannah pushes bluegrass far beyond its rural roots with originals that resonate from traditional bluegrass soul and demonstrate a mastery of imaginative creativity. Their sound stems from their emphasis on original material, inspired by each member’s influences. Besides the splendid playing and singing, their music will certainly leave an indelible image in your memory. Savannah Blu approaches music with high spirits and boundless energy refusing to sit still.
